Many students and teachers also utilise other software in the Finale family. Finale NotePad is another mini version of Finale music notation software that is available as a free Windows download. Finale NotePad is ideal for creating smaller works of up to eight staves, and is compatible with the other Finale family music notation software.
Description: A family of Notation software products marketed by MakeMusic! running on the various versions of the MAC and Windows operating systems, consisting of Finale Notepad, Finale Songwriter, Finale Printmusic, Finale Allegro, Finale Guitar, and Finale. Finale Notepad is free to download, and the other products increase in cost, and capability ranging through the Finale, which has the most capability, and costs the most. All products within the family can open and print files created with any other member of the family from the same or earlier versions, thus, for example, Finale Notepad 2007 can print a file from Finale 2006. No version of the family can open a file from a later version of the software, so Finale 2006 cannot open a file created with Finale Notepad 2007. Higher end products of the family can read and write MIDI files, and support the MUSIC XML format for format interchange capability.
The template's text is a bit too lengthy, pushing other important "Edition notes:" info to the end of the line. Besides, it does not inform that there's also a Mac version. Couldn't we move the portion of text below to this talk page, in its proper Windows section? If someone is interested in downloading the Viewer, will surely click on the link provided by the template and reach this page.
Albino 2 runs on both Windows (Windows 95 or higher, 500 MHz or higher CPU) and Macintosh (Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later, 500 MHz or higher CPU) platforms, and requires at least 1024 × 768 (SVGA) monitor resolution. The software comes with a CD-ROM and a full manual (or it can be downloaded from the LinPlug Web site along with a PDF manual).
eMusic Readers for Score Libraries. There are commercial websites that provide extensive libraries of scores, music published in electronic form and available for downloading for a fee. Musicnotes, for most any computer as well as the iPad, and Muzibooks (iPad and iPhone), are two apps that provide access to published scores but with different packaging. Muzibooks creates a unique app for each score each for a fee; Musicnotes is a free app that gives you access to any score you purchase from their online library. Most of the scores are from the common classical and entertainment genre, with Musicnotes having the more extensive repertoire. The third app in this category is eScore; eScore maintains an expanding set of links to public domain, free scores on the Web. The apps in this category may be useful for score study in music activities that only require standard repertoire.
Storage. For iPad apps the default method for adding scores (PDF files) is through iTunes on your computer when you sync up your iPad. Viewing the Storage column shows that there are many other options: pre-published scores (Musicnotes and eScore) accessed from the Internet, several will let you open an email attachment in the emusic reader, several will load PDF scores from the web DropBox or MobileMe iDisk service, other apps have a built-in web browser for downloading scores, and Scorecerer and GoodReader offer WiFi sync. 2b1af7f3a8
